Meet Kelly
she/her/hers
I’ve always been a talker and have loved hearing a good story. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural path—something I've wanted to do since I was a teen. I've often been the only person of color in the room, and the therapy space has been no different. I founded KAW Therapy when I realized that, once again, I was the anomaly—only this time, I had the opportunity to help others with my uniqueness.
Prior to grad school, my career began with a focus on children, so naturally, after graduate school, the first population I worked with also centered on children. And for the last seven years, my focus has shifted to supporting San Diego's military community, including active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. In every community I've worked with, I've found a few universal truths— everyone is doing the best they can, we all get lost sometimes and life feels a little easier when you don't have to navigate it alone. So my job isn't to "make life better", but to show you another and possibly more enjoyable way through it.
